A lifelong artist and entrepreneur, Alise loves nothing more than an adventure down a road not taken. This spirit of adventure and love of mystery has led Alise to explore new ways of making art by marrying what she loves most which is nature, photography, and working with new technologies to achieve what she sees in her imagination and feels in her bones.

Dreaming of the landscape

My recent trip to Death Valley was awe inspiring and art inspiring! I am very excited about the new discoveries I have made in my process of creating. It beautifully combines my love if color, nature, photography, fabric and texture

We can decide to be the light

Path to the center by Alise Sheehan

"We make moment-by-moment decisions what kind of people to be -- whether to be someone who blesses, or who blames; someone who obsesses about past and future, or who dwells fully in the present; someone who whines about problems, or who creates solutions. It's always our choice what attitudinal ground to stand on: the emotional quicksand of negative thinking, or the airstrip of spiritual flight."

Fall and the moon

I grew up in Ohio where Fall announced itself with bright leaves, crisp air and apples. I loved the fall and the deep comfort I felt wrapped in cozy sweaters just warm enough as I walked across town to see friends.

San Diego fall brings the moon and bright sunsets, cooler breezes and comfort as I move into the turn of another year. This one was deeply challenging and transformational. Thankful for my art and my loved ones and what's yet to come.

My beautiful Mother Odette

This is my Mom who was a wonderful artist- showing her work and coloring with her great granddaughter- just as she did so many times with her 9 children and 15 grandchildren. She passed away peacefully July 25 having lived a full life of 89 years. She was married to my father for 69 years - who passed just 8 months ago. She's surely with him now.
Lots to learn from her- mostly to love always-and unconditionally.

Kindness and Connection - Day 2

My goals are simple today- be kind and connect with those around me. I do this mostly - but also unconsciously so much of the time. Sometimes I can rush through experiences and miss a lot while being irritated that it's all not moving fast enough. Looks like Impatience is the enemy of kindness and connection. So today, I'll not be in such a hurry.
I took this photo at dusk on Mission Beach. Taking photos is where the inspiration for my art begins- it's the opportunity to stop and capture glimpses of beauty that I carry in my heart and mind. connection and kindness are my goals as I navigate through arranging hospice care for my beautiful Mom, the woman who gave me the gift of art.

100 Days- Day 1

have been busy making art. Everyday since we moved to San Diego a year and a half ago. No intention to show it or sell it. Just make it. It's been my joy, my therapy and my transformation. And It's time for me to share. For 100 days I will share an image, and a few thoughts about my process- the good the bad and yes even the ugly. So here goes day one.

I'm learning to be okay with not being sure if I'm enough. And just trusting that I am.

A biographical painting

A friend asked me to work with some of her photos to create a personal piece of art for her- she is a pilot and backpacker and loves nature and photography too.
This was great fun and she is very pleased!
