A lifelong artist and entrepreneur, Alise loves nothing more than an adventure down a road not taken. This spirit of adventure and love of mystery has led Alise to explore new ways of making art by marrying what she loves most which is nature, photography, and working with new technologies to achieve what she sees in her imagination and feels in her bones.

My morning walk
I live near Balboa Park in San Diego and walk every morning there. (So lucky!)
One of my favorite walks is through the cactus garden. It is spectacular and inspires me every time. Being from Ohio and Northen Cal I had no idea there were so many wonderful catus and succulent plants. Today I walked through as the sprinkers were on- the light and water droplets and colors everywhere were awe inspiring and I took some photos as I usually do - heres a photo and the new designs this photo inspired when I got back home today. I will likely use these as backgrounds but they would also be great as fabric, wallpaper etc.

Ancient is new again
Inspired by the ancient egyptian text- the book of dreams. I get so much inspiration from dreams myself its no wonder this gave me so much to run with, love the warm and subtle colors.

Dreaming for My Grandfather
I am excited about the new direction my work is taking, this piece is about Thomas C Sheehan, my Grandfather. He was a very creative and successful inventor and I feel his presence with me often as I am creating. One of his patent drawings and his signsture are in this piece which I titled Dreaming For My Grandfather.

The View From Here
I have been composing different views of color and light. There are amazing photo opps everywhere and I am having a great time manipulating and combining them into new views of the world on my ipad. This is also leading me to create a new jewelry line coming soon. Hope you enjoy!

Morning in San Miguel- Day 3
Found a great place to stay in the artists district in San Miguel - an area called Guadalupe. Have already met several artists and interesting people. Everyone has been tremendously helpful and friendly. Spanish classes today and exploring the Fabrica Aurora artists cooperative for classes to take.

The move to San Diego
Well the move to San Diego is complete. I feel like the intensity of getting it all done has stopped and I am having trouble getting going again! I understand the concept of taking a bit of a break...but it's hard for me to do. So today I'm going to the art museum for some soul inspiration!
