A visit to San Francisco's Art Museums

It takes 1.5 or 2 hours to get there from Healdsburg but every time I go to San Francisco I feel overwhelmed with gratitude to live near such a fabulous city. Yesterday I visited 2 major art exhibits at equally impressive venues- the Hockney exhibit at The De Young in Golden Gate Park and Anders Zorn at The Palace of the Legion of Honor. There is no more beautiful site than on a sunny day at the latter which is perched on a hill overlooking the ocean and Golden Gate Bridge. I went with my good friend Lorraine Vail which is always a day filled with art and magic. Anders Zorn was the wonderful surprise of the day- even though The Hockney exhibit was a treat- the ipad paintings ARE groundbreaking. This painting at the Zorn exhibit brought tears to my eyes- it was truly that powerful. See it if you can- its there till Feb 2.
